Statement from the Director
“The Grossmont Adult School Parent Education Program received Programs of Excellence status in 1998 and earned recertification in 2004. As we approached our second recertification, a major goal was to identify creative ways to involve more staff in the decision-making process. A leadership team was formed, which has enabled us to: identify new ways to assess students and measure learning, develop a new marketing plan, assist teachers in utilizing technology, and implement a teacher-mentoring program. Our mission statement summarizes our determination, not just to meet, but to exceed the standards for parent education programs: The Grossmont Adult School Parent Education Program provides parents and adults in any parenting role with the appropriate skills to promote the healthy development of their children and enhance the quality of family relationships. Program participants will become life long learners and respectful communicators who demonstrate acceptance of diversity.”
