Statement from the Principal

“What factors affect student learning? Quality teaching, classroom resources, and instructional leadership automatically come to mind. Even with all these factors in place, sometimes students don’t learn. Why? Perhaps institutions and individuals lack solid commitments to the idea that all students can learn, or perhaps some students have never been taught the skills they need to learn effectively. At Tehachapi Mountain Adult School, we teach five essential skills that we believe expand learning potential and lead to academic success:

  • Time management and personal goal-setting;
  • Effective studying;
  • Thinking, reasoning, and problem solving;
  • Graphic organization; and
  • Information processing.

“Tehachapi Mountain Adult School strives to incorporate these skills into everyday teaching practices. As our school and faculty reflect on our methodologies and the students we teach, we grow as educators. We also grow as we learn and incorporate strategies, tools, curricula, mentoring practices, and ideas from research that maximize student learning.

“We are proud of our students’ accomplishments and of our teachers, who work diligently to ensure that we accomplish our school’s mission and purpose. We are proud to foster a vision of continuous improvement that will guide us in the future and that makes us a Program of Excellence!”
