Learning to Achieve: Instructional Strategies

In this third Webinar of the Instructors Forum, presenters Passeggi and Brown provided information about Learning to Achieve, a research-based approach to serving adults with learning disabilities that was developed by the National Institute for Literacy, and discussed how Mt. Diablo implemented this approach. Objectives included the following: 1) identify research-based tools and techniques used to teach adults with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) effectively; and 2) identify and implement instructional approaches that help ALL adults, particularly adults with learning disabilities, learn content from written materials.

Mobile Learning for the 21st Century Adult Educator

In this first Webinar of the 2011–12 Instructors Forum, CALPRO PD Partner Susan Gaer demonstrated how research she gleaned from the 21st Century Skills strand of the joint COABE and CCAE conference of April 2011 informed her own practice of teaching ABE, ASE, and ESL.
In this session the presenter discussed: 21st century learning and best practices for today’s students, ways in which mobile learning supports 21st century learning, and practical applications that can be used easily in any adult education classroom.
