Goal

To present strategies which will provide literacy instructors with information and skills in teaching mathematics to adult students.

Objectives

Upon completion of this training module participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe a mathematically rich learning environment for literacy students.
  2. Apply math activities using manipulative aids and concrete materials.
  3. Apply instructional methods to assist literacy students to use problem solving and critical thinking to find mathematical solutions.
  4. Apply math activities which promote the use of calculators.

Identify strategies to facilitate the delivery of Math Problem Solving Techniques at your agency with ideas on presenting, implementing and evaluating the training. Appropriate for agencies of all sizes and at varying levels of professional development planning.
