GOAL AND OBJECTIVES

Goal

The goal of this workshop is to develop skills in teaching writing.

Objectives

Upon completion of this module participants will be able to:

1. Recognize the goal and underlying principles in teaching writing.
2. Identify key steps in teaching writing.
3. Develop activities that assist students in generating ideas for the writing task.
4. Develop activities that assist students in planning what they will write.
5. Develop activities that allow students to review the content and organization of their own and their peers’ writing and give feedback to their peers.
6. Develop activities that allow students to review the mechanics and grammar of their own and their peers’ writing and give feedback to their peers.
7. Develop strategies to respond to students’ writing with clear, concise and specific feedback.
